Society’s Joke is a punk band born out of Austin, Texas - loud, raw, and ready to burn it down. This four-piece group of musicians is already turning heads in the local scene with their high-energy performances and hard-hitting original music.
Fronted by Charlie on lead guitar and vocals, with Nate hammering it out on drums, Omar holding down the low end on bass, and the youngest, Noah, thrashing alongside on guitar, Society’s Joke delivers a wall of sound that’s pure punk adrenaline. Their music blends the chaos of original punk with hardcore influences, streetwise attitude, and just enough pop to make the message stick.
The band writes and performs all original songs - no filters, no apologies. Their lyrics speak from lived teen experience: frustration, rebellion, identity, and fire. Whether it’s a club stage, a DIY gig, or the aisle of a convenience store, they bring raw, unpolished energy that grabs you by the collar.
Formed in May 2024, Society's Joke held their first show two months later in Elgin, Texas, at the Studio 22 Music Academy's Open Jam. They eventually found the sound that carried them to the studio to record their Debut Album, Texas Hayride, in December of the same year. After turning heads in the scene and building their repertoire through additional shows, the band would reconvene at DoubleDog Studios to record their first EP following the release of Texas Hayride, titled 30 Feet From the Edge, on September 7th, 2025.
Following this title, Adrian, the original bassist, was accepted into college and moved from the Austin area. Tryouts were held, and the next bassist to fill his shoes was determined. The one to claim this spot was Omar Ortiz, who is now the current bassist. After taking over on bass, the first show with the new lineup was held at Kick Butt Coffee as Society's Joke opened for a big name in the punk scene, 30footFALL. Society's Joke continues to fill the ears and hearts of Austin, Texas, with the grit, energy, and community of the punks of yore.
Society’s Joke isn’t here to blend in. They’re here to make noise, make change, and make you feel something one song at a time.
